Ana Revenco, the new member of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

On November 9, 2009, the 23rd Meeting of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention was held in Strasbourg, during which the vacancies of the Group Expert on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) were completed.

 

Thus, after the elections, the executive director of the organization "La Strada", Ana Revenco, a unique candidate from the Republic of Moldova, was elected as a member of this Council of Europe monitoring mechanism.

 

The 7 selected members, including the one from the Republic of Moldova, will have been exercising their mandates from 1st January 2019 to 31st December 2022.

 

Ana Revenco is the founder and CEO the organization "La Strada", and the former director of the Center for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

 

GRETA is the main monitoring body for the implementation of the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, consisting of 15 independent and impartial human rights experts with experience in the areas covered by the Convention. The Republic of Moldova is a party to this important body since 2008, being one of the first countries to sign and ratify the Convention.
