As part of the Dniester Day, Ion Lazarenco took part in an event entitled "Nistru for All" on 26 May. The ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, in order to strengthen cooperation between the authorities, institutions and citizens and to raise awareness of the importance of water resources for Moldova.

Ion Lazarenco, who swam along the Nistru in 2013, about 238 km in eight days, emphasized the event, the importance of the river and water for our population. "It is our responsibility to help this river and protect it from pollution. Today, this is one of our national tasks, "said the swimmer at the festival.

Nistru Day is celebrated in the Republic of Moldova every year on the last Sunday of May.
