120 children from 22 countries participate in the DOR Diaspora Program * Origins * Returns, edition 2019

Published on: 10/06/2019

This year, the state program DOR Diaspora * Origini * Reveniri will be held from 19 to 28 August. In the current edition of the DOR, a total of 214 children and young people aged 12 to 17 were registered, 120 of whom were selected, of whom 100 were from the Diaspora and 20 from the Republic of Moldova.

At DOR 2019 will participate children from countries such as Greece, Portugal, the Russian Federation, Italy, Great Britain, USA, Canada, Ireland, France, Georgia, Spain, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Norway, Belarus, Turkey, the Netherlands, Serbia and the Republic of Moldova. For the first time, there have been registered children of our countrymen settled in Belarus, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Serbia and Turkey.

As in previous editions, when selecting children from the diaspora, the first-come-first-served principle was taken into account, with priority given to those who had not previously participated in the DOR programme. At the same time, the 25 children from the diaspora who participated in the contest "Moldova sunt EU", organized by the Diaspora Relations Office (BRD) within the State Chancellery in December 2018, were automatically selected for participation.

Unlike Diaspora children, children in the Republic of Moldova were selected through a competitive test, according to which candidates were required to submit diplomas, as well as a list of assessments obtained during the study during the year.

The candidates were personally informed about the results of their participation in the DOR program, 7th edition, by the BRD team.

During one week DOR participants will participate in various creative, sporting, cultural and other events. Children will also meet with famous personalities from our country.

The DOR is an initiative of the Moldovan government and is meant to organize in August an annual summer programme for children of Moldovan citizens living abroad. The program is aimed at strengthening the emotional, cultural and identification ties of children - the second generation of emigrants - with their country of origin, Moldova. The first edition of DOR took place in 2013.
